Valley of Dragons was a short story published in The Dr Who Annual 1969. It featured the Second Doctor, Jamie McCrimmon and Victoria Waterfield.

- They materialise on one of the minor planets in the deep galactic environs.
- The Doctor claims to have constructed The Doctor's TARDIS with materials to withstand shocks such as a fall from a great height.
- The Reptileanus Hesperides is a creature from the Ozilian Era. It evolved from the dragons which once inhabited the planet and according to the Doctor, can now be loosely described as a sea monster.
- The three of them fly using the Doctor's contra-gravity belts.
- On the planet are a bird-like species and their masters the Manti, a mantis-like species.
- The Manti leader accuses the Doctor and his companions of being Imiga pirates.

- The Doctor retrieves his Atmospheric density jackets, which were first seen in TV: The Web Planet and became a feature of Doctor Who annual stories in the 60s.
- The Doctor retrieved the jackets from one of the TARDIS storerooms, which had previously retrieved some of his inventions from in PROSE: The Devil-Birds of Corbo and PROSE: The Playthings of Fo.
- The Doctor recalls visiting worlds with seas of acid. (TV: The Keys of Marinus, AUDIO: The Drowned World)
