On beginning the Twelfth Doctor's training, the Time Agency supplied him with his own vortex manipulator. On Sunstrike, it wasn't confiscated, unlike the Doctor's sonic sunglasses and sonic screwdriver, as it would not be useful to him or Keira Sangstrom.
