History of Mankind according to Doctor Who was a linear, human-focused view of the timeline of the Doctor's universe published as part of The Terrestrial Index. Though preceded by an out-of-universe introduction which explained the choices taken in developing this timeline, the history itself was told from an in-universe perspective. Evidence derived from television stories was cited using their original production codes.
