Prometheus was a Chronovore who broke an ancient rule of the Ancient Covenant, mated with the Eternal known as Elektra, and thus produce the Chronovore/Eternal hyrid known as Kronos, which was made forbidden by the Ancient Covenant. As punishment, he was erased from all existence. The child he had helped produced, however, was spared. (NA: The Quantum Archangel)

It is not sure if Prometheus planned to concieve the child to create a being that would fight the darkest of the Great Old Ones, Nyarlathotep, like Elektra.

Trivia

In Greek Mythology, Prometheus was a titan who was actually the brother of Kronos, and was respsonible for giving the dangerous element, fire, to the humans against the orders of Zeus. It could be speculated that both the Chronovore and the one in the greek myth are based on the same thing
