- Jessica Douglas, a character in the main flashback adventure, had a father, Lord Joshua Douglas, who is implied to have traveled with the First Doctor or the Third Doctor for what may have been as long as a decade.
- The Leela of the flashback sequences is portrayed as being unsurprised that the Doctor would have another face.
