The dominant life form on the planet Sto was a humanoid species, although there were many other species who called the planet home, such as the Zocci.
Society on the planet was "highly stratified"; there existed an underclass of cyborgs who had been denied equal rights, and while by 2008 things were improving, Sto society still "despised" their kind. Furthermore, the majority of Sto's society was poor, with many doing menial labour but earning little from it. Notes
- The name of the species is not given in Voyage of the Damned [+]Loading...["Voyage of the Damned (TV story)"], however, the name Stovian appears on character cards introduced in the New to Who? documentary video Who Is The BEST Doctor Who Guest Star? on YouTube.
- In the notes Russell T Davies made during a meeting on 15 June 2007, it had been intended for the species to have bindis on their foreheads to signify their alien nature. RTD later said that if they had the budget everyone would have had gills.[1]
