Robert Zierath was a companion of the First Doctor for a brief period of time, together with Vicki and Steven Taylor.
Biography
Bobby met the Doctor at the age of 8 after being woken one night from strange noises in his closet, which he opened to discover that the TARDIS had materialised within it. He then joined the Doctor for a series of adventures, including a visit to planet with giant talking mushrooms (dubbed Mooshroos by Vicki), a visit to ancient Rome, fighting robots that looked like drills and rescuing Vicki from the 'Most High', and meeting Conidrons and the Zaksi. He was then returned to his home moments after he had left (by repeatedly pressing the Fast Return Switch), and left the TARDIS with HiFi, which was given to him by Steven.
Following these events he proceeded to tell stories of his adventures at school, which led to him being mocked by his peers. His teachers, who grew worried about these stories, contacted the Child Protective Services who decided that Bobby should be separated from his widowed father and placed in a foster home. He then had to endure years of meetings with child psychotherapists, until he decided to simply lie and pretend he had made it all up for attention.
About ten years later, Robert met the Doctor (who had not yet met Robert in his timeline) and accused him and his companions of ruining his life, forcing the Doctor to uphold the web of time and go back to take him on as a companion in the first place. (ST: The Schoolboy's Story)
