The Shakespeare Code was the second episode of the third series of the revived Doctor Who. It was broadcast on the 7th of April 2007.

- The title appears to be a play on The Da Vinci Code, which is also a story based around a well-known figure of the Renaissance.
- This will be the second appearance of a famous writer in the newer series (the first being Charles Dickens in the episode The Unquiet Dead)

- Scenes for this episode were filmed in Coventry, Warwick and at the recreated Globe Theatre in London.

- Love's Labour's Won was already being featured on lists of Shakespeare's plays in 1598, the year before this story's setting.
