Series 5 of The Sarah Jane Adventures is expected to air on CBBC sometime in 2011. On 4 March 2010, the BBC announced that it had officially commissioned both a 4th and 5th series of the spin-off.[1] Half of the series is being filmed in 2010 alongside Series 4.[2]

Aside from Elisabeth Sladen obviously returning as Sarah Jane Smith, no casting announcements have been made. However, plans have been announced to introduce a new character in this series. - It has been confimed in DWM Issue 423 that Phil Ford will write two of the episodes to feature in this series and Gareth Roberts will write one.
- An image was shown after Goodbye, Sarah Jane Smith confirming to the public that the series will be shown in 2011.
