Plastic was an artificial substance created on Earth by Humans to make such items as maniquinns, phones, cables, dolls, inflatable chairs, artificial flowers, and breast implants. Plastic had no real value to beings unlike gold or silver does.
Plastic could be molded and shaped into objects when warm. It was unusual for plastic to have a cold, clamy feeling.
The Nestenes were a race of cephalpods able to animate anything made of plastic, making then appear to be living plastic creatures. The Autons, living plastic automatons, were their best known creations. Usually, the items they brought to life were solid plastic.
