Castrovalvans were a civilised society that lived in Castrovalva, a walled city also known as the Dwellings of Simplicity. According to their history books, Castrovalva originated as an alliance of warring hunters that gradually evolved into an ideal society.

This history still resonated as some Castrovalvans liked to don colourful, furry hunting outfits complete with plumed oval helmets and hunt in the wilderness to keep fit long after they adopted their peaceful way of life.
