  • 1- Susan and her new friends discover that the cold wave gripping London is the work of the Cold, an entity which has slumbered since the end of Earth's last Ice Age and which now seeks to conquer the planet and exterminate humanity with its "Cold Knights." At first indifferent to the plight facing the planet, the Doctor is finally convinced by Susan and her friends to intervene, trapping the Cold in a piece of ice which he then takes to Pluto in the distant future before returning back to the junkyard in 1963. The Doctor plays the two factions off against each other, before allowing the winning side, Imperial Daleks led by Davros, to gain the Hand. Unknown to Davros, the Doctor has preprogrammed the Hand to explode Skaro's sun and destroy the Daleks's homewrold once it enters Davros's native time zone, then destroy Davros's ship upon returning to 1963, before finally returning home to Gallifrey.
