An ambulance was a type of vehicle used by doctors to transport injured individuals to a hospital.
On New Year's Eve, 1999, a severely wounded Seventh Doctor was taken in an ambulance to Walker General Hospital.
Later that evening, Grace Holloway called for an ambulance for the Eighth Doctor, who she thought was insane. Unknown to them, the amblance was being driven by Chang Lee, and the Master was sitting in the back alongside them. The Doctor realised who the Master was when they stopped at a traffic jam. Once both the Doctor and Grace escaped, the Master and Chang Lee used the ambulance to get through the traffic jam and they reached the Institute for Technological Advancement and Research shortly before the Doctor and Grace.
