- The US-based SciFi Channel is set to begin broadcast of Season 27 in March of 2006. As a result, release of the complete season on DVD in the US has been delayed from the originally announced February until at least July.
- Gary Downie, former production manager on the classic Doctor Who series and the partner of late series producer John Nathan-Turner, died the morning of 19 January after a long battle with cancer. John Woodnutt, who appeared in four episodes of Doctor Who, including "Terror of the Zygons," also passed away recently. Robert Sloman, a writer for four Doctor Who stories, passed away this December. Our condolences go out to their friends and their families.

The Christmas Invasion
While Rose, Jackie, and Mickey try to help the Doctor as he suffers the instabilities of post-regenerative shock, the Earth comes under attack by a sinister race known as the Sycorax.
Jackie Tyler and Mickey Smith are preparing for the holiday season when the TARDIS makes a violent appearance at the council estate. Rose emerges from the ship with the newly regenerated Doctor, who wishes Jackie and Mickey a Merry Christmas before collapsing, after which he slips in and out of consciousness.
Later, Rose and Mickey are attacked first by a group of sinister Santas while Christmas shopping, then by a killer Christmas tree back at the flat. Meanwhile, Prime Minister Harriet Jones learns that a recently launched Mars probe has been captured by the Sycorax, who have plans to invade and conquer Earth.
