What is the in universe explanation for U.N.I.T.'s name change from United Nations Intelligence Taskforce to UNified Intelligence Taskforce? After the UN said they were unhappy to be associated with it, the show could easily have never again said its full name. However, they decide to change the name with no explanation. What would be a suitable explanation, and will any explanation ever be given?--TemporalSpleen 10:36, January 9, 2010 (UTC)
You just gave the explanation I think. Probably not. Geffe71 16:14, January 9, 2010 (UTC)
I mean the in universe explanation, not why the show's producers changed it.--TemporalSpleen 16:21, January 9, 2010 (UTC)
Maybe the in universe UN did not want to be associated with UNIT. It is feasible. Geffe71 17:35, January 9, 2010 (UTC)
- As far as I can tell, the producers never came up with an in-universe explanation, so the answer is unknown. We could come up with all kinds of fan explanations (and Geffe's works fine), but unless Moffat or one of the NSA writers or someone like that gives us an answer, there is no "right" answer. --99.8.229.156 10:07, January 12, 2010 (UTC)
