BBC News (24) has just given over nearly 5 minutes to the announcement later today of the new Doctor in a special Doctor Who Confidential. They chatted to Sylvestor McCoy for his thoughts on all sorts....Billy Connelly indeed!

Hmm...
I know 26 is pretty young, but maybe what Doctor Who needs is someone to bring out the youthful side of the Doctor, and maybe in this respect, Matt Smith is an ideal choice for the Eleventh Doctor. Bad Wolf Bad Wolf 18:36, 3 January 2009 (UTC)
- I hated when I heard but I like the choice now. Golden Monkey 21:54, 3 January 2009 (UTC)
I think hes a great choice . Theres somthing very quirky and diffrent about him ... And he does look like an alien :) Quark16 11:55, 4 January 2009 (UTC)
He looks arrogant and smug, I hope he comes off as alien much like the First Doctor was, I also hope he brings some more mystery to the character Bigshowbower 12:08, 4 January 2009 (UTC)
I was horrified when I saw the picture of him (he looks like a vampire!) but on seeing the interview, I think he'll be a great Doctor. EyeHeartDavidTennant 06:02, 9 January 2009 (UTC)
I have yet to see the interview, and while part of me would have preferred Sean Pertwee, I guess Smith was a decent choice. It is the characterization that I am more concerned with, rather than the age or his emo haircut. As long as he keeps those eccentric quirks about him, he should make a fine Doctor. Now, turn him loose against a squad of Daleks and let us see how he fares... Trak Nar Ramble on 08:21, 9 January 2009 (UTC)
I had to laugh when watching the BBC news report earlier that day. You know how the presenters are told to include all the usual lines "have your say, drop us a line online at..... and let us know who you think the new Doctor should be..." the announcer then went on to add " but it doesn't matter now, nobody is listening to you!". A gem! The Librarian 13:35, 11 January 2009 (UTC)
