Delos was a slave in 1st century Rome. He was partnered with Ian Chesterton when the two worked as oarsmen on a galley. When they escaped and were recaptured, they were made gladiators and forced to fight each other. When they escaped a second time, Delos decided to return to his homeland. (DW: The Romans)
