Brian Friedkin was a high ranking member of the CIA. For years, he had been recieving orders from someone who he didn't know, on one phone. Shortly after Miracle Day he was ordered to have anybody with knowledge of Torchwood to be killed. He ordered Lyn Peterfield to poison Captain Jack Harkness, but Jack was given a cure to the poison and survived. (TW: Rendition) Rex Matheson then forced Friedkin to tell him what he new about the Miracle, and Friedkin gave Rex his phone.(TW: Dead of Night)
