Nyder was a security commander and most trusted associate, and personal aide, to Davros. He was an icily efficient and obeyed Davros's every order. He was in the end exterminated by the Daleks as he tried to carry out Davros' instructions. Despite certain misgivings about Davros's more complicated plans (He preffered the more direct approach due to his millitary background) he never waivered and had no problems with the genocide of his own people and of the Thal's just to achieve Davros's goals.
Behind the Scenes
Aside from his appearance in I, Davros, Peter Miles returned in the role of Nyder for two one-off productions of a play, The Trial of Davros. In the first production he appeared alongside Michael Wisher, the original actor to play Davros. In the second, following Wisher's death, he appeared alongside Terry Molloy, who took over the role of Davros from Resurrection of the Daleks onward. Nyder is one of the best-remembered Doctor Who guest characters.
