Myths

The Monsters the Doctor battles in this episode are supposed to be the Axon's after The Doctor and The Master mentioned them in Last of the Time Lords

They're called the Hosts; its unknown if they have any connection with the Axons, though its unlikely.

This is set on the real Titianic from 1912 (it has been explicitally stated that it is NOT the actual Titianic.)

A lot was made of the fact that Astrid is an anagramme of Tardis. THis however, turned out not to be significant for the story.
