Inspector Lestrade was a detective of Scotland Yard. He came from the old school that was more concerned with making an arrest than amassing evidence.

Biography

In 1883, he was investigating a series of rooftop burglaries. Sherlock Holmes advised him on the case but neglected to inform Lestrade that he had already worked out that Carolina Lopenski had committed the crimes. (FP: Erasing Sherlock) In 1885, he unsuccessfully dragged a lake looking for Hatty Doran's body. Dr. John Watson's notes on the case were later written as a story by Arthur Conan Doyle and published in The Strand. In 1887, the Seventh Doctor saw him drinking in the Tank. (NA: All-Consuming Fire) In 1897, he took credit for the apprehension of Professor Janus. (DWAM: Bat Attack!)
