Thomas Watson was the assistant of the scientist, Alexander Graham Bell, who was best known for his invention of the telephone. The very first phone call, made by Bell to Watson ("Watson, come here, I need you."), bled through onto both Sonny Hoskins' portable phone and Rose Tyler's anachronistic mobile phone in 1987. This was just as a time breach occured, as a result of Rose saving her father earlier (an act strictly forbidden, considering that his death was a fixed point in time). (DW: Father's Day)
