Joke about King Edward

Could someone explain that joke that Rhys told for the Americans watching this? Why was the potato funny? dposse 18:39, 8 July 2009 (UTC)

I'd imagine Americans would get this joke as the King Edward is a variety of potato which is common in North America Smokin Fish 23:44, 8 July 2009 (UTC)
Actually, i think most Americans recognize the Idaho potato more then the King Edward. But, thanks. dposse 01:40, 9 July 2009 (UTC)
Having just watched the episode myself, and being American... I was under the impression that the joke was that they wouldn't actually name their (potential) son "Edward, after the King" - because being Welsh, they would have identified that name with King Edward I "Longshanks" as someone who had forcibly conquered Wales. (Considering that Rhys shares his name with a Welsh King). Edward I (and son, Ed II) was depicted on film in the movie Braveheart, attempting to do the same thing to Scotland (he's not very nice).
