I've today repurposed this template for bot-only use. This means that several instances where this template was directly added to a talk page by a human will now be broken. However, it's been on the order of a year since people have regularly had to add this template manually. When the welcome bot [[user:Wikia]] adds the page, it always substitutes it, meaning that changes in the template are not reflected on an individual talk page. Most of the people who have this template directly called on their user talk page will probably have archived or deleted it by now.

So I think the damage done by breaking is far outweighed by the advantages of taking advantage of the bot-only functionality. Still, as the revision notes reflect a concern about previous changes which "broke" the template, I thought it only right to leave a note here. {{user:CzechOut/Sig}} 20:03: Tue 20 Sep 2011

Just a suggestion, but it would make adding this template a bit faster if, instead of using "Welcome Aboard, {{{1}}}, you replaced {{{1}}} with {{BASEPAGENAME}}, which automatically adds the name of the userpage, minus the user namespace prefix. So instead of having "Welcome Aboard, User:Eulalia459678", it would display "Welcome Aboard, Eulalia459678". It's up to you though, of course :)--{{subst:User:Eulalia459678/Currentsig}} 14:37, 10 September 2008 (UTC)

I know you posted that comment nearly a year ago, but I agree, in fact, thats the reason I came to this page, but because so many people don't subst this template, it would make all the existing talkpages look ugly — RC-1136 Hate Mail Here 19:16, 29 May 2009 (UTC)

Does anyone else think that the image should be changed to one of the Eleventh Doctor now that the Tenth Doctor has regenerated? And if so, what picture would be used? --Spamalot360 12:02, May 8, 2010 (UTC)

Major shift in focus[[edit source]]

I've today repurposed this template for bot-only use. This means that several instances where this template was directly added to a talk page by a human will now be broken. However, it's been on the order of a year since people have regularly had to add this template manually. When the welcome bot user:Wikia adds the page, it always substitutes it, meaning that changes in the template are not reflected on an individual talk page.
