For others by that name, see Joy.

Joy was an American who worked in the White House. Emerging from a toilet cubicle, she saw one of the Silence. She assumed its face to be a Star Trek mask and asked if the person was Ben. When she looked away, she forgot what she had seen. She then looked again and repeated her actions, despite the warnings of Amy Pond. The Silence then killed Joy with an electrical discharge from its hand, disintegrating her. A horrified Amy asked why the Silence had killed Joy, but it instead told Amy her name, apparently killing her for no other reason than intimidation. (DW: The Impossible Astronaut)
