Sergeant Zbrigniev was a Polish soldier seconded to the United Kingdom branch of UNIT.

Biography

Zbrigniev began his service under Alistair Gordon Lethbridge-Stewart and was still with UNIT in 1997, serving under Winifred Bambera. (DW: Battlefield)

Behind the scenes

  • His name was spelled "Zbrigniev" in the episode credits, and in the novelisation. Since the novelisation was written by the writer of the serial, there's little doubt that writer Ben Aaronovitch intended the name Zbrigniev. However, his name was actually pronounced as "Zbigniew" (a real Polish name) in the serial itself, indicating a disconnect between authorial intent and production reality.
