Driver Evans was an officer in the British Army. He took part in the fight against the Great Intelligence and its robot Yeti in the London Underground. Evans was part of Colonel Lethbridge Stewart's team, and the only survivor, other than the Colonel himself, of a fight with the Yeti. Evans wanted to desert the Army, but the exit gate was locked. Evans always sang when scared.
