Lux was a surname shared by the human family that built and maintained The Library planet. The name apparently derived from the Latin word for "light". This was ironic given that The Library was made unusable by living shadows.

- Felman Lux, the original architect of the Library and founder of the Felman Lux Corporation
- Charlotte Abigail Lux, Felman's youngest daughter
- Strackman Lux, Felman's grandson
