Gansu was the brother of Chan Chiu and the father of Li.
Unlike his brother and son, Gansu had never encountered the Doctor but knew that aliens existed. He began investigating the many disapearances that were connected to the legendary Stone Monkey. As his brother Chan Chiu decided not to get involved in defending China against The Stone Monkey, Gansu went to fight alone and was kidnapped by warriors working under the command of the Stone Monkey. The Doctor and Li freed Gansu when they destroyed the Stone Monkey's power. (DWA: Reign of the Stone Monkey)
