The Leisure Hive was a leisure resort built by the Argolins on their home planet of Argolis, to protect themselves from the radioactive atmosphere outside, caused by their war with the Foamasi. Besides being a resort compound, it also had an underlying mission to promote cross-cultural understanding and scientific awareness. In the last few years before the Fourth Doctor arrived, the Hive was spiralling into bankruptcy and suffering from a negative cash flow, with bookings down substantially for the next year. This decline was probably due to the West Lodge. (DW: The Leisure Hive)
