Synopsis

The Doctor and Donna travel to Pompeii and an Alien Invasion causes Mount Vesuvuis to erupt. The Doctor and Donna travel back into ancient history, in tonight’s episode of Russell T Davies’s BAFTA Award-winning time-travelling drama. When they arrive in 79AD, however, they discover psychic powers and beasts of stone running riot in the streets of old Pompeii. The time-travellers face their greatest challenge yet – can established history be changed, or must the Doctor let everyone die?

Continuity

In a previous adventure, the Seventh Doctor visited Pompeii with Mel in the story The Fires of Vulcan.

It is possible that this episode will feature Jack Harkness. In The Doctor Dances he made several references to Pompeii as a good time con, and that it worked best when 'set your clock for "Volcano Day."
