Caroline Lake was the wife of Jackson Lake and the mother of Frederick Lake. When her husband, their son and she came to London in 1851, they were apprehended by the Cybermen because they were in possession of a large number of infostamps. She was killed in the struggle and the grief drove Jackson to wish he was another man, making him believe himself to be an incarnation of the Doctor. Her son was taken by the Cybermen.
