Vesuvius was a volcano located in Italy. In 79, Vesuvius erupted, destroying the Roman city of Pompeii. Both the Seventh Doctor and the Tenth Doctor were present during the eruption. (BFA: The Fires of Vulcan, DW: The Fires of Pompeii)
