Mrs Pritchard was mother to Gwendoline and formerly the wife of George Pritchard. Josiah Samuel Smith took their home, Gabriel Chase. Smith removed all knowledge of her relationship with her daughter from Mrs. Pritchard, whom Smith made his ward.
