The G3 Military Assessment Survey was a unit in the Sontaran military, apparently responsible for gathering intelligence on possible targets. One of their officers, Field Major Styre lured a group of soldiers from GalSec to an abandoned Earth so that he could asses humanities military skills in case of an invasion.
