Force field

A forcefield is an item of defensive technology usually used to protect the area it surrounds. The shield itself is usually a transparent layer of energy covering a building,lifeform or ship. Forcefields can be used to keep somewhere air tight or in war they can be used to deflect enemy weaponry. forcefields are usually clear but some appear blue or even red in colour. Most shields are powered by a generator near the protected area. The shields are commonly shaped like a dome or a bubble but this is not always the case.

Situations where forcefields have been used

• Platform 1 was protected by a force-field so that no damage would come to the station when the Earth exploded.
• The Judoon surrounded the Royal Hope Hospital with an air tight force-shield when it took the building to the moon.
• The Sontaran command ship was shielded against weapons as powerful as Nuclear missiles.
• Daleks are surrounded by a shield that can only be penetrated by a powerful energy weapon.
• The sanctury base on Krop Tor was protected by a force-shield to keep it safe from the vaccuum outside.
• Margaret Slitheen stole a macro-kinetic extrapolator that could generate a shield powerful enough to protect her from a nuclear melt-down.
• This device was later installed into the Tardis to protect the Gamestation from Dalek firepower and the ship itself.
• The family of Bloods ship was surrounded by a green invisible forcefield.
• Dalek prison cells used force-field technology to hold their captives.
• Modern ships such as the SS Pentallion, the Titanic cruiserand the Dalek Mothership had force-shields.
• The torchwood 3 institute owned a portable prison cell that could generate a funnel of energy around its captive.
