Jondar was a rebel prisoner on Varos, his torture was broadcast live to the public from the Punishment Dome, where he was chained. Moments before his execution, the TARDIS arrived in the Dome, and he was rescued by the Doctor and Peri. Jondar was reunited with his mate Areta. Later, after being captured by Quillam, the Doctor and Jondar were both subjected to being hung while the Governor and Sil watched, but it was a trick in order to get the Doctor to talk.
