Claire Summerfield was the wife of Admiral Isaac Summerfield and the mother of Bernice Summerfield. She looked a great deal like her daughter.
Claire was observant and intelligent (easily spotting her daughter's attempts at malingering), but could be prone to absent-mindedness, such as forgetting to eat for several hours.
Shortly after the 2547 disappearance (and presumed desertion) of her husband, Claire died in a Dalek attack on the Beta Carisis town of Vandor Prime: she deposited her seven-year-old daughter in the shelter and was running back for Benny's favourite doll when she was hit by a Dalek disintegration ray.
