The Evergreen Death was a Doctor Who Adventures comic strip published in 2011.
Summary
The Doctor takes Amy Pond and Rory Williams to an idyllic colony built on the only surviving tree on the planet, a single giant tree that sustains all life on the planet. It's not long, however, before the colony is attacked by a swarm of Pulpavores, large, flying, winged creatures. As the colonists take cover (the Pulpavores have never attacked so close to the settlement before), the Pulpavores dive down and through the ground like termites. They break off a sizable chunk of land (a branch from the tree). Rory is on the other side of the branch when it falls to the ground, but the Pulpavores are prepared and catch him in a net made from vines and land him safely. Grabbing a giant leaf, which he uses as a parachute, the Doctor and Amy float down to meet him. At the base of the tree they find a village of Pulpavores built amidst the rotting vegetation. The Doctor rightly guesses that the Pulpavores are natural gardeners, tending the tree, pruning the dead wood and turning it into compost and feeding the tree itself. Returning to the colonists above, they find them attacking the Pulpavores, fearful that they will harm them and overrun the settlement. The Doctor manages to broker a peace, pointing out that the colonists, when they arrived, upset the ecosystem. The Doctor points out that by working with the Pulpavores, the colonists may even one day be able to eventually reseed the forest, and leaves the two sides talking.

Continuity
- Amy compares the rotting vegetable plot at the trees base as being “yuckier than a space whale’s stomach!” – a reference to DW: The Beast Below.
- Amy also compares the idyllic colony to making “Upper Leadworth look like downtown dullsville!”. Upper Leadworth was where the Dream Lord moved Amy and Rory to their ideal home. (DW: Amy's Choice)
