Lucy Cartwright was a little girl who was walking home from a party with a red balloon when one of the Scarecrows from Mr Clark's field kidnapped her and took her to the Family of Blood's invisible spaceship, where Daughter of Mine took over her body, killing her. Lucy's parents realised Daughter of Mine was not their child and were swiftly killed – though this was never seen, only mentioned. After the Family of Blood had been defeated by the Tenth Doctor, he trapped her inside every mirror in existence, visiting her once a year, every year. Daughter of Mine always carried Lucy's balloon. (DW: Human Nature/The Family of Blood) In the Series Three DVD box set, Lucy said hello to a scarecrow in a deleted scene.
