Digby was a relative of Madge Arwell and her children, Cyril and Lily Arwell. He was much wealthier than the Arwells and possessed a large country estate in Dorset. By 1941, however, Digby had vacated the house to live, according to Lily, "in a home in Battersea". (DW: The Doctor, the Widow and the Wardrobe)
