The Salt Solution is a Doctor Who Adventures comic strip that features the Eleventh Doctor with Amy Pond and Rory Williams.

Summary

On the desert world of Bruvoldaveer, the Eleventh Doctor, Amy Pond and Rory Williams befriend one of the last tribes trading at the outpost of the ancient Salt Trail. Only the bravest warriors remain to collect the salt and risk death at the hands of a monster in the dunes. When the ‘monster’ appears the Doctor identifies it as a Natrium Worm – a creature that lives and thrives on pure salt. The worm has detected the tribe’s salt supplies.

Realising that the tribe are no match for the strength and persistence of the Worm, the Doctor, Amy and Rory, hijack the salt cargo from the backs of Andromedaries (robot camels), and ride them to a nearby oasis (the reason for the tribe choosing to camp in this area of the desert). In spite of the protests from the tribe, the salt cargo is poured into the watering hole. Driven by its urge to consume salt, the Worm dives into the water and unable to cope with the absorption of minerals other than pure sodium chloride, explodes.

Notes

  • The DWA comic strip adventures were aimed at a younger audience and the artwork and colours were bold and bright, reflecting the tone of the magazine.
  • Self contained, one part stories were the norm.
