IndexPanopticon → Should we adopt the Wikia Message Wall?
Spoilers are strongly policed here.
If this thread's title doesn't specify it's spoilery, don't bring any up.

Because it was initially somewhat buggy, we never seriously debated the virtues of the Message Wall. Now that the module has matured somewhat, it's probably time to investigate whether it's appropriate for this community. Should we adopt it, or keep going with the traditional User talk namespace that we have currently deployed?

The Help:Message Wall page gives you links to various discussions about the pros and cons of the feature, and it's currently enabled over at w:c:faction paradox. If you've never experienced the Message Wall, hop over to our sister wiki and give it a try.

(The existence of the Message Wall at w:c:factionparadox is merely a convenience; it should not be construed as an endorsement for the feature.)

I'm one of the admins at the Morphin Grid (the Power Rangers and Super Sentai wiki) and Logopedia, and neither of them are using the message wall feature. Personally, I hate it, having had notifications of new messages when there have been none (as you say, it has bugs). Digifiend 01:37, July 11, 2012 (UTC)

I'm not in favour of its implantation.
The ability to delete posts seems to run contrary to our archiving and vandalism policies. Checking out other wikis' who have it it's really surprising to see the remove button on their walls (where I'm not an admin). That anyone can remove a wall post is kinda strange.
History and its navigation just seems to be a pain. You can sort of access the history via the public logs, but it's not as simple as a History page.
Considering how much we discuss, and how these discussions often influence forums and article talk page discussions and then go on to influence policies. I don't think the message wall is a good step forward. --Tangerineduel / talk 09:35, July 12, 2012 (UTC)
