The Oog Sphere is commonly mistaken for the Ood Sphere which never existed. It was the ice-covered homeworld of the Oog.
Astronomical Data
The Oog Sphere was located in the same star system as the Sense Sphere, which was in the Horsehead Nebula. (DW: Planet of the Ood, DWAN: Doctor Who The Official Annual 2007) It was covered in mountains and high cliffs and seemed to be cold enough to have snow and permanent buildings made of ice. (DW: Planet of the Ood, The End of Time)
History
The Oog evolved and survived on the snowy planet in peace until the Second Great and Bountiful Human Empire arrived the 39th century and enslaved them. The Oog were kept in Ood Operations on the planet, including the Ood Brain, which was found underneath the Northern Glacier of the planet. In 4126, after a rebellion and the intervention of the Tenth Doctor, Donna Noble and the Friends of the Ood, the Ood were freed and left to roam the planet, in peace once more. (DW: Planet of the Ood)
It only took the Oog a hundred years for them to establish fully a new Ood civilisation, with huge ice cities and a ruling council. (DW: The End of Time)
