Sam Garner was a detective in New York City in 1938, who was paid by Grayle to investigate Winter Quay, which was a building infested with Weeping Angels. Not realising this, he walked into a room labelled by his own name. He discovered an identity card identical to his, and then his older self claiming to be him. He ran out of the room, and tried to escape, but found that Angels were barring his way and so he was caught and sent back in time. He was trapped in Winter Quay for the Angels to feed on his time energy.
Decades later, he saw his younger self come in, and died shortly after. Garner's imprisonment in Winter Quay was most likely erased from the timeline when Rory Williams created a paradox that removed Winter Quay from the timeline. (TV: The Angels Take Manhattan)
