The Petrified Forest was a presumed result of the use of neutron weapons on the planet of Skaro, which turned all vegetation to stone. It still served as the homes of the Thals. The TARDIS materialised there when it first arrived on the planet. The travelers, the Doctor, Susan, Ian and Barbar also found the body magnedon. (DW: The Daleks)
