I'm a recent convert to Who. I only got started relatively recently, but I'm now a huge fan and have introduced several people to Who.

(I'll never make the mistake of showing a newbie “Rose” again: the terrible special effects and the Mickey-eating trash can are just too much for people to accept. It took me some time to really build up enough hatred of Mickey to appreciate that scene. It's not a terrible episode, and it has some funny bits, but I don't understand at all why it makes it onto best-episode lists.)

I've been working my way through a lot of the old series, but I definitely prefer the new series. I feel like the old series often tends to drag, and doesn't have the kind of character development of the new show. It's more traditional science fiction where the characters are just there to serve the plot, which just isn't my cup of tea. (Especially since Doctor Who averages maybe a 1.75 on the Mohs Scale of Science Fiction Hardness—though I'm sure some would disagree, and some episodes are a bit higher than this.)

Anyway, I'm always excited to see more of the Doctor. I'm thoroughly enjoying Matt Smith's take on him. You can really believe that he's 1200 years old: he feels like a grandpa in a young body.

My first time was with David Tennant. We played Doctor. Thankfully, he didn't forget to bring a banana to the party. When it came time for Operation, his Sonic made me buzz and I lit up. Then I went all wibbly-wobbly. ;-)
