Vogan

Vogans are humanoids from the rogue planet Voga, a planet made of gold. Because of their planet's unique composition, the Vogans are deadly enemies of the Cybermen.

Physical characteristics

Vogans are humanoids with grey skin and white hair. They have deep-set eyes and large, protruding features. Vogans usually have a large domed head and thick white hair. No females were seen, so their appearance (if they exist) is unknown.

History

The Vogans, living on a planet of gold, were harassed during the war againist the Cybermen in the 2500s. This gold was used to create Glitter-guns which could kill Cybermen. In order to stop this, the Cybermen blasted Voga into deep space. This forced the Vogans to move underground and set up an isolationist policy. After floating in space for over 300 years, Voga was captured by Jupiter's pull. Shortly after this, the humans discovered Voga and put the Nerva Beacon in its orbit. 50 years later, the Cybermen discovered Voga and planned to destroy it due to its influence in the Cybermen's failure.

Culture

The Vogan are led by a Council who advocated the isolationist policy. They believed that they should stay hidden under the surface of Voga. The Guardians, on the other hand, believed that they should be more aggressive and rejoin the galaxy. They also believed that they should get rid of the threat of Cybermen once and for all. This schism caused a minor civil war, which happened to have occurred when both the Cybermen and the Doctor arrived.

Trivia

• The Vogans use a sigil similar to the Seal of Rassilon (as shown in the picture). No explanation has been given for this connection.

• Revenge of the Cybermen
