Thanks for your recent edits! I'm Jimbo, your robot wiki representative! We hope you'll keep on editing with us. This is actually a great time to have joined, because we're now fully independent, and working on a host of new features!

We've got a couple of important quirks for a fan written wiki, so let's get them out of the way first.

British English, please

We generally use British English 'round these parts, so if you use another form of English, please be sure you set your spell checker to BrEng, and take a gander at our spelling cheat card.

Spoilers aren't cool

We have a strict definition of "spoiler" that you may find a bit unusual. Basically, a spoiler, to us, is anything that comes from a story which has not been released yet. So, even if you've got some info from a BBC press release or official trailer, it basically can't be referenced here. In other words, you gotta wait until the episode has finished its premiere broadcast to start editing about its contents. Please check the spoiler policy for more details.

Other useful stuff

Aside from those two things, we also have some pages that you should probably read when you get a chance, like:

If you're brand new to wiki editing — and we all were, once! —  you probably want to check out these tutorials at Wikipedia, the world's largest wiki:

Remember that you should always sign your comments on talk and vote pages using four tildes like this:

IP users don't get message alerts

Unfortunately, you might have to wait until this Tuesday for some sort of public confirmation from Wikia in the weekly tech update. I asked the question through Special:Contact. Rappy did some tests of his own and then confirmed to me through email that IP users weren't getting message alerts reliably. He then said he submitted a ticket on it. The text of that message can be found here.

As you'll see when you click the above link, this issue has occurred before. Who knows how long it existed before it was eventually reported then? I rather suspect people rarely report when this issue arises. After all, most people who would report it would be registered users, who can't easily see that it's not working. The only reason I reported it was because I've spent a lot of time replying on IP user talk pages and I've never gotten any response until and unless I block the user and thereby detour them to their user talk page (or mine). I really dislike doing this. It goes against every wiki-editing instinct I have. But it has served to inspire more conversations with IPs over the last few weeks than I've ever had on Wikia.
