Chloe! I'm coming to hurt you!
Synopsis
The Doctor takes Rose to the London 2012 olympics, only to find terror in an ordinary street.
Plot
The TARDIS lands in East London in Dame Kelly Holmes Close 2012. The Doctor and Rose emerge from the TARDIS after materialising at a bad angle and begin discussing the 2012 London Olympics. The Doctor begins reminiscing about other Olympic events and mentions tea parties featuring fairy cakes with edible ball bearings, emphasising that no other species in the universe had ever bothered to make them. Rose then shows the Doctor some posters with details concerning children that were going missing. The Doctor becomes concerned, also noting how cold it is for the time of year.
The Doctor and Rose encounter a girl, Chloe who seems almost possesed, with the ability to draw seemingly alive pictures.

Discontinuity, Plot Holes, Errors
- When the Doctor eats from a jar of marmalade in Trish's house, he puts one finger in his mouth. The camera cuts to Rose for a second as she warns him off this little faux pas, then back to the Doctor - who now has two fingers in his mouth.
- Despite the fact that the torch will be running down in a few minutes, there is no crowd or fences when Rose digs up the pod
- The fences and crowds also disappear very quickly after the drawings are brought back
The fences and crowds are gathering at the end of the street, as the torch only passes it not through it. The TARDIS is at one end the torch passes the other end - the street can be left clear.
- When drawing Tom, the trousers in the picture are of a different colour to the ones he is wearing.
- Tom also disappears before the drawing is complete, but later the cat doesn't disappear till after the drawing is complete.
- The logo for the Olympics is the one used for the bid. The logo for the Olympics was released after the episode.
- Despite the fact that this episode is set in Stratford in 2012, in several scenes Central Trains liveries trains are seen passing by, which have never operated through Stratford (but do operate through Cardiff, around where the episode was filmed). Indeed, Central Trains ceased to exist in 2007, replaced by three new operators.Speculatively, it is possible that the company has been reformed and are operating in Stratford; a lot can happen in 5 years, especially in business.
- Like in several episodes, the on-screen branding seen on BBC News 24 in this episode is out of date, since it changed dramatically in 2008, along with being rebranded BBC News. It is unlikely that it will revert to its prior state by the time which this episode is set.
Continuity
- The Doctor mentions that he 'was a dad once' this could be a reference to his relationship with Susan (who first appeared in An Unearthly Child) or to Miranda his adopted daughter (Father Time).
- The Doctor uses his telepathy as he did in The Girl in the Fireplace.
- 2012 previously featured in Dalek, and is the home era of Adam Mitchell.
- The events of "Doomsday" are prefigured here by BBC newsreader Huw Edwards, He can be heard, albeit faintly, comparing the sudden disappearance of everyone in the Olympic stadium to the "Battle of Torchwood".
- This would seem to establish that sometime prior to 2012, Torchwood is no longer a particularly secret organization. It might serve as an explanation why Torchwood is known to so many people in the series Torchwood.
DVD Releases
- This was released on a vanilla DVD along side Army of Ghosts and Doomsday.
- It was also released as part of the Series 2 box set.
